At Yogvan participants are initiated into Classical Yoga (a combination of Hatha Yoga and Raja yoga). The tenets of the ancient philosophy of the Patanjali Yoga Sutras are weaved into the physical dynamics of Hatha Yoga. This offers more meaning to the student and allows one to integrate Yoga into one’s life and thus raise Yoga to a way of being and living.

At YOGVAN an attempt is made to integrate the subtler aspects of yoga, by guiding the participants to observe themselves while practicing their regime. Asanas are a general flow, co-coordinated with breath control. This allows one to remain present to the effects of a certain asana on the body, and on the state of mind. The pace helps in creating a little introversion during the course of one’s practice and allows one to enter into the deeper fields of the personality, thus elevating the attention from the grosser physical to finer mental aspects. Emphasis is laid on Pranayamas (breathing techniques) for greater nervous control and purification, and meditation thereafter.

The whole objective is of following a yoga routine that allows better understanding of one’s personality, creating space for growth and refinement of the personality, thus making it an enjoyable experience.
